Genre of Magazines

Before I can go about creating my magazine, I believe it is important that I understand what a magazine is, starting with the genres of magazines. I need to get my thoughts flowing as to what genre of magazine I am looking for. I conducted some research in order to outline the different genres, and here is what I found:

Food Magazines:

This type of magazine revolves around the advertising of food. It can range from foods that can be made at home, how to cook, home recipes, and even foods that can be found around the world.

Fashion Magazines:

This genre of magazine revolves around clothing and other forms of fashion. Fashion can be displayed through the use of people or individual objects. It is usually what people use to find out what is trending in clothing, but many magazines regarding fashion can also display very extravagant and unorthodox dresses.

Automotive Magazines:

This particular genre of magazine revolves around cars and everything related to it. It may include upcoming cars, the best cars of the year, classical cars, car parts, car mods, and many other automotive related topics.

Entertainment Magazines:

Entertainment magazines cover large ground as they can pertain to any form of entertainment. These may include T.V shows, Movies, and even performances. They offer the latest and greatest of modern television entertainment and movies.

Sports/Fitness Magazine:

Like the other magazines, this type of magazine covers large ground as it relates to fitness and all sports. This means that it displays not only bodybuilders and physiques, but also gym products, supplements, protein, and sports gear. When it comes to sports, this magazine makes sure that you have the most important and eventful information.

Travel Magazines:

Travel magazines are very well known magazines for those who seek to explore the worl through a whole new lens. Be it through pictures, or that person is actually planning a vacation, this magazine is the one that they will find most appealing and inciteful.

Target Market: A very important aspect to consider next in my magazine is the demographics. In other words, what is my target audience or the people that will be reading this. This is extremely important because I must make the magazine with the intention of appealing to my target demographic. So if I were to make a magazine on cooking, my target audience will be depending on the content of my magazine. If I were to be doing the magazine on homemade recipes, I would most likely be targeting mothers and fathers, or even those who like to cook at home. The same goes for automotive and fitness magazines. I will have to establish my target audience in order to best meet their needs. My Samples: After I have analyzed and viewed the different options for a possible automobile magazine cover, it is now time to incorporate what I have learned about the images and take my own photographs. I want to get a feel for the process of taking these pictures and I would like to see which type of magazine cover I will be most comfortable with.
