These types of pictures are particularly popular in the fitness community. The color black is seen as a very popular color choice among all events and scenarios, including in the fitness world. The color black can serve many purposes and can bring about very different results depending on how it is used. The color black is a very aggressive color and therefore would leave for a very aggressive theme. Depending on how it is used it can come with a lot of possibilities when it comes to color schemes. The color black matches with virtually any7 color so it is also another reason why it is a widely sought after color, especially in magazines. The best way to go about a picture that incorporates black clothing would be to complement it with a color that will make the black stand out. These possibilities for color schemes may be:


  • White Background Black Text
  • White Background Yellow Text (Dark yellow possibly even with a hint orange)
  • White Background Red Text
  • White Background (Any other vivid color as text)
  • Red Background Black Text
  • Red Background White Text
  • Red Background Blue Text
  • Yellow Background Blue Text
  • Yellow Background Red Text
  • Yellow Background Black Text (Most preferable out of the yellow backgrounds)
  • Any other background color that can help the black stand out

When it comes to the other colors in the color spectrum, there are many ways you can go about creating a color scheme to best fit the theme. Unlike black, the other colors will not always fit well with each other. A good way of establishing what color goes with each other is by looking at the color complementary wheel. Colors that are next to each other in this wheel are too similar and will not go together while those opposite of each other will complement perfectly. An example would be blue and orange which are opposite of each other and therefore create a good contrast. Possible Color schemes in this category may be:

  • Black Background and Text the color of the outfit
  • White Background and Text the color of the outfit
  • The complementary color (Opposite of the color wheel) for the background and the text color for the Outfit.
  • Any other variation that allows for the outfit and lettering to stand out.

Target Market: A very important aspect to consider next in my magazine is the demographics. In other words, what is my target audience or the people that will be reading this. This is extremely important because I must make the magazine with the intention of appealing to my target demographic. So if I were to make a magazine on cooking, my target audience will be depending on the content of my magazine. If I were to be doing the magazine on homemade recipes, I would most likely be targeting mothers and fathers, or even those who like to cook at home. The same goes for automotive and fitness magazines. I will have to establish my target audience in order to best meet their needs.
